Written by FOLLOWING JEROME – Here is a video of Jerome Sammarcelli taking the start on the Pogo 2 #806 by “Team Open Sailing” in the 2012 Single Handed Transpac race 2,120 nautical miles from San Francisco to Hawaii. Check out how he ‘port tacks’ the entire fleet to win the start.
Currently, Jerome only has 400 miles to go to the finish. He took a flyer to the south yesterday and with no communication in 24 hours, Team Open Sailing have not found out why. So far it hasn’t paid off and Jerome has lost some places in the standings.
However, there’s still plenty of time to make it back up and then some especially as he should be sailing in almost perfect conditions for the boat. Stay tuned….
