AUDI MELGES 32 UPDATE – Event leader since day one, Audi F.lli Giacomel supported by Eberhard & Co – Fra Martina wins the penultimate event of the Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series, held in Malcesine (Lake Garda) and organized by B-Plan Sport&Events in collaboration with Fraglia Vela Malcesine and Melges Europe.
Three heats were sailed in the last day of racing, completing the scheduled program of eight races. The first, in the morning, with a wonderful Peler conquered by Mauro Mocchegiani’s Rush Diletta. The final two completed in the early afternoon with Ora, won respectively by Vincenzo Onorato’sMascalzone Latino and Lanfranco Cirillo’s Fantastica.
The crew of Edward and Vanni Pavesio was awarded by their consistency and ability to keep a high level of concentration, even in the most delicate moments, as at the final stage, when the umpire made provision for a penalty during the starting procedure. Audi Fra Martina show her substance thanks to the expert afterguard composed by Gabriele Benussi (tactician) and Riccardo Simoneschi (mainsail trimmer) catching up with the rival Filippo Pacinotti on Brontolo HH who finished fourth.
The podium of the fourth event of the Audi Melges 32 Sailing Series 2012 sees Pacinotti in second, a happily greeted result due to the return of tactician Daniele Cassinari. Onorato finishes third and maintains the overall leadership of the Audi Sailing Series with 19 points on Cirillo, that in the home waters of Lake Garda, failed to achieve anything above eighth place.
On Sunday morning two members representing each crew attended to the Audi Day, a challenge of dynamic tests on Audi R8 and RS3 Kontra. Congratulations to Ferdinando Battistella, owner of Quantum Diva, who reached the goal in the Regularity Rally on R8 and Armin Raderbauer, bowman on Robertissima, was the best in the Kontra Special Slalom.
