ORACLE 17 UPDATE – Here is the latest from Team Oracle with some great footage of the sea conditions that detroyed the wing and comments from Jimmy Spithill, Tom Slingsby and crew Jono Macbeth:
“We did something we were hoping we’d never do, and that is capsize an AC72,” says ORACLE TEAM USA skipper Jimmy Spithill.
“We’ve been pushing the boat and every day we got out we’re pushing it more and more. And we found our limit today,” says Tom Slingsby, a tactician.
“The last thing I heard before we went over, and it became evident we were going to go over, was Jimmy yelling out make sure you have an eye on your mates,” says Jono MacBeth, a grinder.
