RACE RESULTS
Gold Coast Australia collected their second yellow pennant of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race at last night’s Race 2 prize giving in Rio de Janeiro. All the crews of the ten international teams descended upon the Choperia Brazooka in Lapa, the party centre of Rio, to celebrate their Atlantic crossing and sample Brazil’s drink of choice, the caipirinha.
Singapore skipper, Ben Bowley, and his crew were first to take to the stage after securing third place in the race from Madeira to Brazil, an impressive feat after being forced to switch to back up steering mid Atlantic. The crew of the only English entry in the eighth edition of the Clipper Race, Welcome to Yorkshire, were next up to receive their pennant from Clipper Chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
Victors Gold Coast Australia celebrated their second yellow pennant and were sent a congratulatory message from Martin Winter, CEO of Gold Coast Tourism Corporation. For Full Results click HERE.
