TEAM ARTEMIS – Artemis Racing had a special visitor this week when our Chairman, Mr. Torbjörn Törnqvist, stopped by. This was his first time at our Alameda facilities and he spent time with the team both onshore and on the Bay.
“There are a lot of things to be impressed by; the boat itself, the engineering, the crew work, and the methodology,” Törnquist commented.
A very dedicated athlete himself, Torbjörn did not miss a beat. He spent each morning in the gym with the sailing team, sat in on team meetings, and fit right in as he took the helm of the AC72 on San Francisco Bay.
Following his initial sail Sunday, he enthusiastically described his experience at the helm of the AC72 and joked, “I was helming quite a lot…. Loïck will have to watch out!”
“I’m very excited to be here with the team. I’m very proud and optimistic about our future,” Torbjörn said about the team’s hopes for the 34th America’s Cup.
